South Dakota and North Dakota
So we leave North Dakota and drive south - - - to South Dakota. It makes sense.
I have so many memories of vacations to South Dakota I couldn't wait to see it as an adult. It was a little different than I remember.
The game reserve.
No, these are not scenes from the highway. On the way to, or back from, the monuments, we stopped at a game reserve and saw lots of cool sights.

Lots of bears

Elk and bighorn sheep.

It was a pretty neat afternoon and the truck almost overheated a few times.
Now, the monuments.

Here it is, Crazy Horse. Actually this is a replica of what it will look like. Here is what it looks like after 30 years or so of work.
Not too impressive, huh. Well, it is bigger than it looks and pictures don't do it justice. The arm is 100 yards - across. Large trucks drive on it and they look very very small.
So here is what you wanted to see, Mt Rushmore. After Crazy Horse, Mt Rushmore looks small. I don't know how many times I have been here but it is always the same.
They still have all the state flags. I showed Jenn Wyoming's, that is it above me, blue, red border and a buffalo in the middlle. It is very cool. Yes, it really is. We looked for New York but it was tangled up and we couldn't see it.
Well, next up is Fr. Ogg, Mom and Dad. Can't you just wait??? It get's cool after this, boy!!!

I'm so glad you're back to doing this again! Thanks for taking pictures of Crazy horse for me. That thing is so huge... do they have any idea when it will be finished? Preferably before the ice sheets melt...
